Learjet 31A

Meet the Learjet 31A

When your priority is speed, efficiency, and access, the Learjet 31A is the quintessential light jet: quick to climb, quick to cruise, and surprisingly capable on shorter runways—so you spend less time getting to the airport and more time where you actually want to be.

A brief origin story

The 31A refined the already-nimble Learjet 31 with higher cruising speeds and a modern digital avionics suite, becoming the definitive version through the 1990s and early 2000s. First flight for the family was in 1987; the 31A arrived in 1990/91 and remained in production until 2003.

What you’ll feel on board

A quiet, business-focused cabin configured for up to six passengers makes the 31A ideal for sprints to meetings or quick weekend escapes. Many aircraft include a fully enclosed aft lavatory, and the compact cabin keeps everyone within easy conversation range. Internal baggage typically totals about 40 ft³—enough for roll-aboards and soft bags.

Performance that matters to passengers

  • Speed: Cruises around Mach 0.81 (roughly 440–460 knots) to keep your day moving.
  • Range: Plan on roughly 1,200–1,600 nautical miles depending on payload and winds; with four passengers, about 1,500 nm is typical—perfect for city-pair hops across a region.
  • Altitude & ride: Tops out near 51,000 ft, flying above most weather for a smoother ride; it’s also known for a brisk climb—reaching 47,000 ft in about 28 minutes.
  • Airport access: Balanced-field takeoff distance is about 3,800 ft, opening up smaller, more convenient airports that larger jets can’t use.

Where it shines

The 31A is engineered for hot-and-high days and fast turnarounds, with the responsiveness pilots love and passengers notice as on-time arrivals. It’s an efficient choice when you want jet performance without big-jet overhead—speed, economy, and capability in one compact package.

The passenger promise

Arrive sooner, with fewer compromises. The Learjet 31A blends near-instant climb, high-cruise efficiency, and short-runway flexibility—so your flight feels effortless, and your schedule stays yours.
